A sweet wedding gift and the Gallery opening in Santa Fe!

'Lil Sweetie for the Groom'

9x12 oil on board

What a wonderful, loving idea...commission the groom's puppy for his wedding gift! Just look at those eyes...who wouldn't love this pup. And what a loving bride to think of this.

It was so much fun to paint, and to design my own composition from the provided photo. It IS possible to paint from a source photo, here's proof. I won't bore you with the preparation details and how I arranged for the pup's left eye to be right within the golden spiral (another method of the golden mean). She would have been boring right in the center of the board...and it gave me perfect opportunity for some painterly strokes in the foreground.

It has taken me 2 weeks to settle back down from the whirlwind of activity in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The puppy commission, and about 10 paintings in process in the tonalist technique.

The pictures of the gallery weren't great, it was very crowded and warmish...but you can see the painting ON THE WALL.

Moses-Botkin Challenge for June...'Something Shiny from the Kitchen'

I am still reeling from the Santa Fe trip and just about missed this deadline. Then changed hosting plans for my websites last week, and messed up a couple email addresses, so didn't get the other paintings until this am...thanks, Mike (Beeman) for sending them to me!

Here are the paintings: (and be sure to look for the July postings...the subject is a real doozy!)
