Had fun with this one...below is the original source photo:
Decided to do an extreme crop...way too much uninteresting sky and foreground. Love the lights and the spaceship dome.
Here are a few in-process pics, followed by the one submitted.
noticed that the dome is too much of a boob...trimmed it back down, exaggerated the glow of the lights, made some chunky whites on the dome.

You did publish! The thumbnail in my blog hadn't updated when we were chatting earlier - yes I like it! I like the artistic license you too! I like the exaggerated and modified and original parts!
I really like your composition and cropping choices. It's a lovely painting with so much more mood and glory than the photo!
Love the progression you showed and the final piece is great . Nice cropping too.
I like what you have done: composition, color! Looks great!!
Thanks Erika, Dominique, Diana, Julie:
I've been on computer troubleshooting duty with Mr. Les all day...not getting to paint, but that's OK. It is so bleak and dark outside, I don't have my lighting up to snuff with my north light temporary studio yet.
Glad you liked the painting!
Wonderful Vicki!!! I need to get on the ball. Great color comp and real fresh!
I hate deadlines...usually try to get this done way ahead of time, or I just won't do them. Not good with last minute ANYTHING (xcept going out to eat) LOL
i love your colors
Conrad, those who know me well know I love colors...sometimes too many! The fun in this (beyond figuring out the crop) was how to get the lights to glow!
