I learn so much! Did you know a "Flip" is a cocktail with a whole egg, while a "Fizz" uses only an egg white? Both were more common in days of ore...some even made by inserting a hot fireplace poker into the drink just before serving.
Diane did an amazing pencil drawing of some eggs, while Suzanne blew me away with her huge painting. Great work, team!
The recipe:
- 1 large egg
- Small pinch of freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish
- Ice
- 1/2 ounce heavy cream
- 2 ounces Irish whiskey
- 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
- 3 blackberries, plus 1 blackberry skewered on a pick for garnish
"Dusk Flip"
12" x 16" pastel and gold leaf

I love your clever take on this month's Challenge subject, Vicki! Very fun. Thanks for choosing the subject.
That's really interesting how each artist interprets the idea so uniquely. I love them all!
LOVE you composition and color use! and very clever, great way to approach the challenge!
I laughed with pure pleasure when I saw where the yolk was. What a clever idea. You have a fun spirit Vicki.
The rest of the painting is neat as can be but I could not make out all the words coming down the side but could get the drift. I don't drink but otherwise would try this one. Cream ... Yum!
Diana, thanks! I love thinking out of the box.
Katherine, this has been great for all involved because we DO see things differently...it is always a treat on the 14th when we get to see each other's interpretation!
Suz, the composition is founded in my graphic design background...and interminable and constant study about art compositions. Sometimes I feel like I research more than paint :)
Julie! The haiku says: The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire. I did the Dusk Flip with gold leaf, and the haiku in gold leaf pen so it wouldn't be so much 'in your face". Stuff that is hard to photo! So glad you like it. I probably wouldn't order one of these...but it was fun!
