Painting on a Black Background Moses-Botkin Challenge February

Great challenge this month, thanks to new member Ruth Andre, paint something on dark ground or with a dark background.

I grabbed a black piece of Richeson Pastel Paper and went to work. That is the good thing about challenges, they encourage you to try new things. This paper has a very coarse surface, and I deliberated about trying to fill some of the texture, but decided to let it fly like this. Somewhat impressionistic, and definitely 'reads' from across the room. Not so sure about up close :)

What a great idea to start with the black paper, Vicki! That "working backward" is a good challenge in itself.
